Al has been making functional pottery and raku for the past 24 yrs. He loves rich vibrant colours and bold flowing forms and strives to make each piece function well for its intended purpose whilst being visually pleasing. The large teapot on the right has been glazed in burnt teal.
Al makes a wide variety of functional pottery from teapots to cream and sugars, mugs, butter dishes, trays, casserole dishes, bowls of all sizes, spoon rests, tea bag holders, pate dishes and pickle boats. All are microwave, dishwasher and oven safe with reasonable use. He takes care to make sure that all his glazes on functional pieces are food safe.
The majority of his pottery is wheel thrown. Some items are draped and some details are extruded. He takes great care to make sure that items are light, smooth and attractive. Shown is a rope edge tray in sky blue.
His work can be found in his studio in Nanoose Bay and in The Mud Room, Cowichan Bay. Shown is a footprints mug with tundra glaze.

There is lots of parking at rear of studio/showroom - we have level entry. We are open 10 am to 5 pm Tuesday to Saturday or phone 250-468-7633 . This year we will again be part of the Nanoose Bay Studio Tour May Showcase, Thanksgiving Tour and the Christmas Crawl. We are #6 on the list of studios to tour.
