British Columbia Travel Guide
The unofficial BC Travel & Tourism Guide
British Columbia's lakes, rivers and streams contain 25 percent of Canada's freshwater supply and 5 percent of the world's supply. Combine this freshwater paradise with 20,000 kms, or 12,000 miles of Pacific coastline, marked by islands, fjords and open ocean, it comes as no surprise that British Columbia is an all-season angler's heaven.

Saltwater, intertidal and freshwater fishing opportunities abound everywhere in the province: The Pacific Coast sports popular salmon fishing resorts, some easily accessible by land, others only by water or air. The tributaries of the mighty Fraser provide for winter steelhead fisheries. Streams and lakes throughout the province are alive with cutthroat trout, bull trout, rainbow trout, kokanee and even sturgeon. The northeast of the province boasts char, pike and walley, while the rivers in the Kootenays are world-famous among fly-fishers for westslope cutthroat and rainbow trout. And don't stay away just because it's winter – the southern coastal waters don't freeze, while lakes in the interior invite you to try ice fishing!
