Geschichte:
Enderby was an area along the Shuswap River that was occupied by the Spallumcheen Indian Band of the Shuswap First Nation for over 5,000 years. The river and lakes provided ample fishing and hunting grounds. The river was vital transportation route of the people. (Their blood descendants still resided in the area and operate local campgrounds.)
In 1866, an Overlander by the name of Alexander Leslie Fortune became the first white settler. By the late 1870's regular steamboat service ran between Fortune's Landing and Savona / Kamloops.
Due to the fertile farms which sprang up and produced hardy wheat harvests there was a demanded to development flour mills. The forestry opportunities also generated local sawmills. After World War I and II the area was hit hard by the depression - the pole industry, the dairy industry and the brickyard were then the area's staple economical support. However, later the Shuswap River and the areas splendid recreation drew back visitors.
