The Pottery Store in Chemainus is owned and operated by the 6 local professional potters represented in the store. We are proud to offer you an incredible variety of high-quality pottery, from functional stoneware for everyday use to spectacular raku and one-of-a-kind art pieces.
All of the functional pottery is non-toxic stoneware, intended for everyday use in oven, microwave and dishwasher.
Barb Springer-Sapergia works in her studio in Ladysmith, BC. After 30 years slinging mud, she is now following her passion for watercolour painting.
Harriet Hiemstra and husband John Robertson work together in their studio, Cobble Hill Pottery. They produce an extensive line of functional pottery as well as these 'painterly' pieces and other sculptural works of art.
JoVic Pottery represents Josée and Victor Duffhues who work together in their Ladysmith studio. They offer a fine line of functional stoneware and decorative pottery. The vase shown here is an example of Vic's work with 'mocha diffusion'... a process that results in beautiful tree-like patterns. Vic manages to control this seemingly random process to create lovely landscaped pots with rich interior glazes that frequently also decorate the rims.
Next time you're in Chemainus, after you've had your required waffle cone, head on into the Pottery Store to have a look and maybe purchase one of our incredible offerings. All of the potters in the store have been working in clay for a very long time, and our staff members are very knowledgeable about the work. They'd love to answer your questions.
