The Bonaparte River, which runs through Cache Creek, wanders between the deep valley and passed the rolling grasslands. The gentle hillsides are a mixture of sagebrush, cactus, and coloured rock. All of this is then staged by an enormous backdrop of brilliant mountains!
Cache Creek is like an oasis of hospitality and supplies for highway travelers. Throughout Cache Creek visitors will find working ranches where they can try out horseback riding or take a ride in a heritage stagecoach, buggy or even a vintage automobile. The opportunity to find trails in the mountains for a day of hiking, wilderness camp, or pop up a tent along the river also create memorable experiences for families and recreational enthusiasts.
The rare arts community and annual events run through out the year. The Cache Creek Traditional Bonaparte Pow Wow in August is one of First Nations drumming, dancing, singing, native foods, and crafters who present a diverse range of culturally handmade treasures. The vintage auto show BC Old Time Drags and Rod Run is the second weekend in June, the wild west show in July, and the Apple Festival in September is also a popular favorite for locals and surrounding communities.

Geschichte:
The First Nation aboriginals of the area, the Stuctwesemc, have resided in the area dating back over 8,000 years. Previously a semi-nomadic group, they have reconstructed a traditional Shuswap Village beside Hat Creek. This is a rare opportunity to observe an actual kekuli pit house (in the ground).
Cache Creek was once a midway point on the Fraser Canyon route and a resting place for travelers on the Gold Rush Trail. There is some disagreement around the origin of the name 'Cache Creek'. It may be that it was named after a local Mr. Cache, or after the incident surrounding a theft of gold and in his attempted escape the thief stashed or 'cached' it somewhere along the river bed, which remains undiscovered to this day.
