Within the Strait of Georgia, the water way between Vancouver and the Sunshine Coast of British Columbia, rest the Northern Gulf Islands. This tropical rainforest series of island provide ample mild-weather year round for fishing, hiking, camping, kayaking, sailing and whale watching. Due to their seclusion, many have since dwindled in human numbers from the time of the early settlers, fishermen, and fur traders so quite often abandoned villages make for an experience of time travel and exploration. Some of these Northern Gulf Islands are accessible by vehicle ferry from different points along Vancouver Island. Others smaller less populated islands and parks may only be accessible by kayak, sailboat, water taxi, charter, or occasional boat plane service. Please refer to the BC Ferries link for detailed schedules and rates.
