Sitting along the banks of the Similkameen River with mountains all around, Keremeos is back-packers paradise. This distinct mountain base and the seasonal weather changes create the most amazing settings; Spring is full of blossom (nearly one third of the town is made up of orchards), the Summer is full of fruit stands, Fall is full of leaves and harvesting, and Winter is full of winter magic.
Travelers to this area in the interior of British Columbia enjoy the numerous trails and mountain passes that make way for adventure and relaxation. Near by lakes and parks offer year round outdoor activities; wilderness sightings of bighorned sheep, glacier peaks and alpine lakes, to name a few. The cattle ranching and old town feel take you for step back in time to the wild west.
Great summery days spent picnicking in the park, on the water fishing for trout or whitefish, fly casting, or stopping to enjoy some local wine tasting can all be a part of a 3 day stay.
However, when the cool days of winter shows up there is no stopping visitors from trying indoor rock climbing, traditional outdoor skating, enjoying the museum, or heading to the slops for a little downhill action just for the weekend.

Geschichte:
The Interior Salish aboriginals lived among the steep mountain range. Their legends, numerous rock painting and artifacts give visitors today a sense of their way of life. Visit the pictographs close to old Welby Stage Lines road, Dewdney Trail or Indian Trail (Washington).
